Peek Vision – Strategic Writing

The front cover of the Peek Vision 2025-2028 strategy featuring a young black man in a red top holding up the Peek Vision app on his phone, standing in a rural landscape in Tanzania.

Peek Vision is an incredible organisation, app and data intelligence platform that brings free, accessible eye screening to millions of people in need of eye care.

The hour I spent with Peek’s Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Bastawrous OBE, will stay with me for a while. Authentic, inspirational and generous with his time, Andrew set out the challenges facing the eye health community – and the impact a simple app is having.

As the global population increases, driven largely by countries struggling to meet healthcare demand, the rise in eye conditions seems inevitable. But the Peek app and platform offer a solution – not just to meet short-term needs, but to create a change in global eye health systems that will turn the tide on avoidable vision loss.

The app enables anyone with a smartphone to conduct accurate vision screenings – vastly reducing the need for travel to health centres. The Peek platform then gathers ‘metrics that matter’, lowering notorious post-screening drop-off rates, but Peek doesn’t stop there.

By testing innovative, self-sustaining finance models, it ensures the technology also grows eye health markets, supporting local and national economies.

It was a huge privilege and learning experience to immerse myself in the Peek Vision world as part of a project to write their 2025-2028 strategy report.

I conducted stakeholder interviews and desk research, developed the structure and wrote the copy. I also worked closely with top designer Abi May to deliver the final product. With the report in place, I then developed key messaging and a slide deck to promote the new strategy.

Peek’s Head of Corporate Communications & PR, Daisy Barton, said:

“You synthesised all the materials and interviews really well. I appreciated your constraining the content we sent, and you did a great job of pulling together the diverse messages and perspectives you were given. Abi’s design is brilliant, too.”

I wish Peek all the best with the strategy rollout.
