Comic Relief and Sainsbury’s – Strategic report writing
A young white girl in a school setting, smiling off camera and eating with her hands from a plate in front of her. A second image shows a young, black boy eating pasta salad with a fork and smiling to camera. The Sainsbury’s logo strapline reads “Good food for all of us”.
We’ve been living through tough times for so long now that the messages about people facing real-life, desperate situations begin to lose their edge.
Statistics on their own never tell the full human story of a situation, but sometimes they can pull you up short and refocus your attention. Like this one.
One in seven families is experiencing food insecurity.
Let that sink in. Think about it in relation to the street you live on, or the school your kids go to. Just because you don’t always see it, doesn’t mean it's not there.
So I was pleased to be brought on board by Yarn to write the Comic Relief and Sainsbury's Nourish the Nation impact report
Over the last four years, Nourish the Nation has funded a range of organisations that have supported more than 2.4 million people with over 60 million meals.
They tackle food insecurity through:
- Food clubs
- School programmes
- Emergency support
But in doing this, they do so much more – bringing communities together, giving children the best start in life and easing the debilitating stress of financial hardship.
Nourish the Nation is a fabulous example of corporates and charities pooling their resources, staff, customers and supporters to deliver an outsize benefit for an urgent cause.
Big congrats to the client team and Yarn, whose openness and collaborative spirit made the whole thing come together.
It’s scandalous that a nation as wealthy as ours has levels of food insecurity this high. But Comic Relief, Sainsbury's and all their partner organisations are having a hugely positive impact on the people affected.
